Thermal stability is one of the most important properties of glass ceramics for cooktops. During cooking, the panel may experience significant temperature differences between the heated area and the cooler edges. Our ceramic glass is designed to withstand these thermal stresses.

Low Thermal Expansion
The coefficient of mean linear expansion is:
α (20–700°C): (0 ± 0.5) × 10⁻⁷/K
The extremely low thermal expansion helps reduce dimensional changes and thermal stress during repeated heating and cooling.
Resistance to Temperature Differences
The cooktop panel is designed to resist temperature differences between the heated zone and the cooler panel edge at room temperature.
No cracking due to thermal stress occurs under the specified test conditions up to a maximum test temperature of 760°C.
Thermal Shock Resistance
The glass ceramic panel is also tested for thermal shock resistance. Under the specified test conditions, a hot panel at 760°C is quenched with cold water at 20°C without cracking caused by thermal stress.
This thermal performance makes the material suitable for cooktops that undergo frequent heating and cooling cycles during normal operation.
In addition to thermal performance, the ceramic glass provides good mechanical properties for cooktop applications.
The approximate bending strength is 36 MPa, with bending strength testing carried out according to DIN EN 1288 Part 5 (R45).
The material also offers good resistance to chemical corrosion, helping the cooktop surface maintain stable performance during regular use and cleaning.
Impact Resistance
For the specified impact test, a steel ball with a diameter of 60mm and a weight of 188g is dropped from a height of 180mm onto the panel 10 times.
Under the specified test conditions, the panel shows no scratching or cracking.
Our glass ceramics for cooktops can be customized for different equipment configurations and cooking surfaces.
